Rockstar reflects on the journey from GTA 3 to Red Dead 2: "20 geezerhood doesn't look look-alike enough"
Now that GTA 3 is officially two decades old, Rockstar Games is winning some time to aspect back - and is a little surprised that IT's only been that long.
Rockstar North's Aaron Garbut spoke with our own Joe Donnelly about how GTA 3 took shape within the studio apartment . Garbut was credited as the artistic production director on GTA 3, and is now co-studio apartment head and head of development at the flagship Rockstar studio. He discussed how GTA 3 helped band Rockstar on a of course for the open-world fundamentals that still conduct the GTA serial publication (and now Red Dead Redemption) today.
While that GTA 3 innovation has remained, Garbut finds it hard to believe the studio's made such advancements in just two decades.
"The reality is that around of it feels equivalent yesterday, but when I pack a step back and think about our journey, close to how far we suffer come from GTA 3 to Red Dead Redemption 2 and on the far side that, 20 years doesn't seem the likes of adequate," Garbut says. "The complexness, the ambition, the detail, and ambit has exploded - with each game organism a chance for us to push where we go so a lot further. I can't wait to see where we fetch to in another 20 years."
Public speaking of the future, while Rockstar is still staying quiet about anything even possibly GTA 6-molded, we do have a new take over some classics to look forward to very presently: the GTA Trilogy release appointment is stage set for November 11.
While we're waiting, you can check dead the new GTA Trilogy trailer and get a line how IT updates the games spell holding on to their classic vibraharp.
